About us

The Audiovisual Observatory Ikusiker is an observatory that analyses the habits, ways and trends of watching audiovisual content and using ICTs or Information and Communication Technologies among young people. Ikusiker was born in the 2018/2019 academic year within the Applika+ research project (US17/40) initiated by the NOR Research Group and the basque public broadcaster EITB and is the result of the collaboration between UPV/EHU, EITB, the International Centre for Contemporary Culture Tabakalera and the Basque Observatory of Culture.

The Observatory distinguishes three research lines in its work:

IKUSIKER

This is a research line that analyzes the audiovisual consumption and the use of ICT among Basque youth between 11 and 23 years old. The objective is to analyze the changes in the consumption of information and communication, especially in the audiovisual field. Two techniques in particular are used to carry out this research: the survey and the permanent panel. This project is composed of two different panels: the university panel and the secondary school panel.

The university panel is made up of students from the three campuses of the University of the Basque Country (UPV/EHU) and students from the Public University of Navarra (UPNA/UPNA). The secondary school panel is made up of eight centers from Southern Basque Country: Assa Ikastola from Lapuebla de Labarca, Garcés de los Fayos Ikastola from Tafalla, IES Iturrama from Pamplona, Larramendi Ikastola from Mungia, IES Mendebaldea from Vitoria-Gasteiz, IES Oriarte from Lasarte-Oria, Santo Tomas Lizeoa from Donostia and IES Solokoetxe from Bilbao.

Surveys on audiovisual consumption and ICT use are addressed to these two panels, obtaining quantitative results from them. These surveys are managed through the encuestafacil.com platform, whose databases are exploited by Aztiker Sociologia Ikergunea.
